At dawn, the sun shines brightly through the leaves of the Moreton Bay Fig Tree in Balboa Park.
This spectacular tree is located in Balboa Park just north of the Natural History Museum. From the very first time I saw this tree, I knew I would have to photograph it. I grew up in Canada and we have nothing like this with it's enormous roots and twisted trunk.
This fig tree was planted for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. You used to be able to climb the tree and sit in it's shade but due to visitors compacting the soil and damaging the root system, the tree is now permanently off limits.
This photograph is available in a limited edition of 100 fine art prints. Each print is made to order with the highest quality pigment inks and fine art papers. They are signed and come with a certificate of authenticity. Small prints under 15" on the long dimension are excluded from the edition. If you have any questions about this specific image or my prints in general, please don't hesitate to contact me.
