The early morning light skims across the badlands at Broken Hill leaving an interplay of light and shadow.
Broken hill is my favorite hike in Torrey Pines State Reserve and it's wonderful to see this at sunrise.
If you look closely, you can see a pair of burrowing owls in the center and right trees. Burrowing owls haven't been seen in the reserve for many decades but started to reappear around 2012.
