Aloe is a vertical photo by San Diego photographer Stephen Bay. The art depicts blooming aloe plants in the cliffs above Scripps Pier in La Jolla which can be seen in the background. The photo was taken just before sunset and shows blue and yellow tones in the sky and direct warm light on the aloe plants in the foreground. There is also an agave plant.

Aloe | La Jolla

When I made this image, I was feeling a bit of cabin fever because it had been raining for a week. Not fun but ultimately good as we've been in a bit of drought. I was glad to get out. This is from the cliffs above Scripps Pier, where the aloe clings tenaciously to the edge yet manages to bloom like crazy.

Medium: Archival pigment print with acrylic facemount

This is a pigment print where the front has been directly mounted with an adhesive to a sheet of ultra clear, scratch resistant, and non-reflective acrylic glass. This process is known as face mounting. The acrylic captures light internally resulting in a display with incredible visual depth and vibrancy. With proper lighting, the acrylic print will appear to be back illuminated with the light emanating from the image itself. The print comes ready to hang with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print off the wall.
