The full moon rises in the center of fireworks, looking like a luminous flower in the night.
This photo is the epitome of the quote chance favors the prepared mind by Louis Pasteur. I knew about the fireworks and that the full moon was going to rise on this night. I did all sorts of research trying to figure out the position and size of where the fireworks would be in the sky. I took old photos I had made and estimated the diameter of the bursts based on distances and the field of view of my lens (trigonometry for the win). With this I made my best guess as to where I should stand to get both the full moon and the fireworks in my composition. I tried to place the moon a bit to the left and above as I didn't want the fireworks to block the moon.
As chance happens, the fireworks launched late and my calculations were off but the moon was dead center in the bursts. I felt like I won the jackpot! I had made errors but was close enough and through a lucky break achieved a better result than I could have ever expected.
