Train tracks lead away into the California desert. It's a cool blue summer night with only the stars and distant mountains for company.
Throughout Southern California there are many miles of abandoned railroad tracks. These run through the desert and mountains but ultimately end up going nowhere as they are what remains from the failed "impossible railroad" which was supposed to connect San Diego by rail to the east.
Whenever I come across these in the desert, I feel like it's path that might go somewhere interesting if I were to follow it. Maybe there would be an abandoned building further down the tracks, a desert garden filled with blooming cacti, or perhaps some caves where indigenous people lived. But then again it might go nowhere, either way I'm going to be taking a chance, maybe I should just go forward.
