High surf floods the Windansea beach hut during winter king tides.
Despite how crowded San Diego is at times, the early mornings are special. I can go out to the beach and not have to worry about the traffic, parking, or running into people. I can walk along and enjoy it in solitude or I can stand and watch the waves crash over the rocks and sand.
This is the Windansea Beach hut. It's usually far back from the water's edge, but in the winter we get the king tides which drive the ocean waves way up onto the rocks. The king tides come and go with the full moon which is just about to set in the center of the frame.
