Breakers Beach, Coronado

Shipwrecked | Breakers Beach, Coronado

I came out this morning to the beach with the plan of shooting the moon set over Point Loma. However I knew from the weather reports that there was likely going to be a heavy marine layer. Also I had been getting up early the prior few days and the coast had been socked in for the sunrise. I decided to come out anyway because, well, who needs sleep? I needed to be at my spot at 5:34 but the moon dissappeared behind the clouds maybe 10-20 minutes before that. I didn't get the shot I planned but I explored the beach and photographed this amazing shipwreck.

I don't make black and white photos that often but I immediately knew this scene called for it. I wonder about the history of the boat, who owned it, and how it ended up here.
