About Lessons with Stephen

Whether you are a beginner who needs help with camera settings or an advanced photographer looking for that edge, my lessons will help you advance your skills quickly and bring your work to the next level.

With customized instruction, you'll get precisely targeted information with a lesson tailored to your exact needs. You won't be bored with material that's too basic nor overwhelmed with techniques that are too advanced. I don't hold anything back and I'll share with you the techniques I use in my own work.

Lessons are available in person (San Diego area) or online through video conferencing software.

How it Works

  1. Please contact me with a brief description of what you want to learn.
  2. I will then reply to you and we will discuss (A) specific learning goals for the session and (B) schedule a meeting time. We may have a short phone call to clarify details.
  3. You send me your image files that we can discuss and work on during the session. These can be shared via Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Alternatively, If you do not have any suitable images, I can use my own examples for teaching.
  4. At the scheduled time, we will connect via Zoom video conferencing software. This allows for screensharing so that you can see exactly what I am doing while editing in Lightroom, Photoshop, and other programs.
  5. The session will be recorded and a video will be made available for you to download afterwards.

Computer Requirements

For online lessons, we will use the Zoom video conferencing software. The client is free and you can download it here. You will need a computer with a microphone and webcam. You should also have a reliable and fast internet connection.

I also recommend that you have the most recent version of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop installed on your computer. If other software is required, I will send you a pointer to where you can obtain it in our initial goal setting discussions.
