Cedar Creek Falls is bathed in a warm golden light from the afternoon sun. The light is reflected onto the canyon walls and in the ripples in the pool of water at the base of the falls.
When I hiked out to Cedar Creek Falls, I initially thought I may have picked the wrong day. It was during spring break and there were quite a few people swimming when I arrived and then a large group of high school boys came a bit later. The boys were jumping in the water -- normally I would be annoyed but I noticed that the splashes caused the funnel shaped pattern of reflections and I took advantage of it for a foreground shot.
Note: the hike is 6 miles round-trip with about 1000' of elevation gain and no shade. It wasn't hot when I went so the hike wasn't bad but it can be brutal with high temperatures (people have been airlifted out).
